Link-based recognition versus listening through a microphone
A microphone app hears the room, speaker distortion and background noise. A link-based scan can work with the public video's audio directly and attach every match to a timestamp.
It also means the source must be publicly reachable. Private, members-only, age-restricted or region-blocked material may not be accessible even when it plays in your signed-in browser.
What an optional account changes
The song finder itself remains usable without registration. An account is for private scan history, feedback and beta features such as stem separation; it is not required to reveal a completed music match.
This separation keeps a one-off utility quick while giving frequent users somewhere to revisit their successful searches.
