tunescout help
The details, when you need them.
Everything about links, recognition, Separation and plans—kept here so the tools themselves stay focused.
Song recognition
Which video links does tunescout support?
Public YouTube videos and Shorts, TikTok, X and Facebook links. Private, login-only, age-restricted or region-blocked media may not be accessible from the server.
Which scan mode should I use?
Quick finds the main song. Timestamp checks one known moment. Full scan searches across a video and builds a timestamped tracklist. Use Deep analysis with Quick or Timestamp when speech covers quiet background music.
Why is Deep analysis unavailable with Full scan?
Separating audio across an entire long video would use disproportionate processing time. Deep analysis therefore stays focused on short Quick and Timestamp windows.
Why was no song recognized?
The recording may be too quiet, heavily edited, sped up, unreleased or absent from recognition catalogues. Try a clearer moment, enter its timestamp, or enable Deep analysis when music sits behind speech.
Why did a previous scan return instantly?
Public videos that have already been analyzed can reuse a cached result. That avoids downloading and recognizing the same audio again.
Do I need an account?
No. Quick, Timestamp and Full scans work without an account. An account adds private history, Separation access and plan features.
Separation
What can I separate?
Upload an MP3, WAV or M4A file. Choose vocals plus instrumental, or four stems: vocals, drums, bass and other. Files can be up to ten minutes long.
How are Separation minutes calculated?
Usage follows the length of the uploaded audio, regardless of whether you choose two or four stems. A 3:20 file therefore uses 3 minutes and 20 seconds from the internal balance; the interface rounds the remaining total down to full minutes.
Which minutes are used first?
Plan minutes that expire sooner are used first, then purchased minutes, then promotional or beta minutes. This protects the balances that stay available longer.
Do unused minutes roll over?
Pro starts each billing cycle with 180 included minutes, replacing any unused monthly allowance. Purchased packs remain separate through monthly resets and stay available for up to two years.
How long are my files stored?
Uploads and generated stems are private to your account and deleted automatically after 24 hours. Download anything you want to keep before then.
Why does a separated stem contain artefacts?
AI estimates layers from a finished mix; it cannot recover the original studio recordings. Reverb and overlapping instruments can leave audible traces, especially in dense or heavily compressed music.
BPM & key
Why can BPM appear as half or double the expected value?
Many rhythms support both interpretations—for example, 70 and 140 BPM describe the same pulse at different subdivisions. Song pages show half-time and double-time alternatives for that reason.
When is a public BPM page created?
tunescout first measures the rhythm and then identifies the song independently. A public page is created only when the track identity is reliable enough, which keeps unrelated videos out of the catalogue.
How can I get a cleaner BPM result?
Choose a moment with a steady, clearly audible beat. Intros, breakdowns, speech and free-time passages give the analyzer less rhythmic evidence.
Plans & billing
Does the song finder stay free?
Yes. The core Quick and Timestamp experience remains free under fair-use limits. Pro is for higher scan allowances, monthly Separation time, exports, priority processing and an ad-free workspace.
What happens when I cancel Pro?
Pro remains active until the end of the paid billing period. Purchased Separation minutes stay in the account independently of the subscription.
Can I buy Separation without Pro?
Yes. A one-time pack adds 120 purchased minutes. It does not start a subscription.
Which streaming services support track links and playlists?
Recognition results can link to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and SoundCloud searches. CSV and TXT tracklist exports are part of Pro. Automatic playlist sync depends on each provider granting production access and may remain limited during beta.
Where can I manage invoices or my subscription?
Open Plan & usage in your workspace and choose Manage billing. Stripe hosts the secure billing portal.
