How to Find a Song’s BPM and Musical Key
BPM describes tempo; musical key describes the tonal centre. tunescout measures both from the audio and only publishes a catalogue page when the source can also be identified as a song. That keeps random speech and unrelated videos out of the database.
How to use it

A verified page may already contain the track's measured BPM and key.
- Paste a public music link
If the song is missing, submit a public video containing a clean version of the track.

Reading tempo without the half-time trap
Hip-hop, drum and bass and other rhythmically flexible genres are often counted at two valid levels. A track measured near 72 BPM may be gridded near 144 BPM by another DJ tool.
tunescout displays related tempo values so you can choose the grid that matches the musical pulse. The audio does not change simply because the displayed convention does.
What key detection measures
Key analysis estimates the tonal centre across the selected audio. Modal harmony, key changes, detuned samples and live performances can make one label less definitive.
Use the result to narrow compatible tracks, then trust your ears before committing to a harmonic mix. Published catalogue pages retain the measured value and source confidence rather than inventing artist metadata.
Common questions
Why can another site show double the BPM?
Algorithms may describe the same pulse in half-time or double-time. A 70 BPM result and a 140 BPM result can represent the same musical rhythm.
Is an automatically detected key always exact?
No. Ambiguous harmony, tuning, live versions and key changes can affect the result, so treat it as a strong starting point rather than sheet music.
